Will vs. Going to: predictions and plans.

What will we achieve today?

Session Objective: Differentiates between decisions made at the moment of speaking (will) and premeditated plans (going to) to talk about the future.

Community Connection: We will connect this language structure to describe our own life experiences, family stories, and community realities in Popayán and the Cauca region.

Key Concepts

• Will: Decisions made now, promises, offers, and general predictions without evidence (e.g., 'I think it will rain').
• Going to: Pre-planned actions, intentions, and predictions based on present evidence (e.g., 'Look at the dark clouds, it is going to rain').
• Future time expressions: next month, in ten years, next weekend.

Practical Challenge: Future Decider

Read 5 scenarios (e.g., a phone ringing, a planned trip to Cali) and write the correct response using 'will' or 'going to' according to the rules.
