What will we achieve today?

Session Objective: Reports what other people said using reported speech rules, making necessary changes in pronouns and verb tenses.

Key Concepts

• Concept: Direct speech ('I like news') vs. Reported speech ('She said she liked news').
• Tense shift (backshift): Present Simple -> Past Simple (say/tell -> said/told).
• Pronoun adjustments: I -> he/she, we -> they, my -> his/her.

Practical Challenge: The Messenger

Listen to a statement from a classmate and write it down in reported speech (e.g., Juan said that he studied math yesterday). Do this for 4 classmates.
