"The Anti-Translator Challenge": honestidad académica.

What will we achieve today?

Session Objective: Recognizes the limitations of digital translators and applies paraphrasing strategies to write in their own voice in English.

Community Connection: We will connect this language structure to describe our own life experiences, family stories, and community realities in Popayán and the Cauca region.

Key Concepts

• Translator issues: Literal translation errors, loss of natural flow, lack of learning progress when relying entirely on AI/translators.
• Paraphrasing strategy: Changing the sentence structure or using synonyms of words you already know.
• Developing vocabulary: Using bilingual dictionaries to look up single words rather than translating whole paragraphs.

Practical Challenge: Paraphrase It!

Take 3 complex Spanish sentences and translate them into English in your own words, using simple grammatical structures instead of digital translation.
